Alta (Gould) Campbell, 92, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2016, at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. She was born March 8, 1923, in Danforth, Maine, the daughter of the late Archie and Myrtle (Harris) Gould. She graduated from Danforth High School and was a member of the Baptist Church. Alta married Leland Campbell in 1940, they lived in New Jersey for six years, and in 1946 they moved to Milan. She was a member of the Milan Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. Alta was also a member of the Ladies Service Society, Homemakers and the Emily Flint Rebekah Lodge. Working for things in the church and the Ladies Service Society was a means of service. She was a cook at the Milan School and later served on the school board. Alta loved and enjoyed her family. They liked to play board games together, boating, fishing and picnicking, especially along the river. She liked caring for her family and her home. She took great pleasure in various types of handwork. Sewing, counted cross stitch, crocheting and macro may. Reading was her favorite pastime. Church and worship being the most important in her life. She is survived by her children; Alison Belanger and her husband George Belanger of Hillsboro, NH, Gary Campbell and his wife Sarah of New Johnsonville, TN and Craig Campbell of Milan, NH; four grandsons Kevin Belanger, Randall Belanger and his wife Stacy, Russell Belanger, Chad Campbell and his wife Andrea; two great granddaughters Tearyn Belanger and Avery Campbell; one great grandson Evan Campbell; one sister Glenna Stiles of Berlin; sister in-law Carol Gould; brother in-law Hartley Dwyer and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Leland Campbell, a daughter in-law Virginia LaPlante Campbell, granddaughter Stephanie Campbell, a grandson Kendrick Belanger, two brothers Byron Gould, Wilfred Gould and his wife Lola, four sisters Barbara and her husband Clyde, Christina Dwyer, Waldina Gould and Elizabeth Boardman and husband Vincent. Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 18, 2016 at 1 PM at the Milan Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Sunday afternoon from 2 PM to 4 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Milan Methodist Church.
